Final Fantasy IX 001 The Plan

So here's the next, and possibly last video series I'll be doing, Fainaru Fantajî IX. FF9 is... sort of... my favorite PS1 Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy VII doesn't really hold up as well for me, especially because of its awful translation (the only reason I want a remake, honestly, is because then we'd get a new translation. Although then we'd also get voices for the characters, which.. ugh). But on the other hand, there's no question that playing FF7 for the first time was one of the coolest gaming-related experiences in my life, so I dunno. Whatever. FF9 is REALLY REALLY GOOD. Is what I am saying.

FF9 is like... if Square had hired Pixar to make a Final Fantasy... this is what it would be like. Yes, it's a bit cliched and derivative, but that's intentional. The emphasis is on making the story fun and lighthearted, and unlike a lot of other RPGs, Final Fantasy IX actually pulls that off successfully. Probably mainly because it has such an awesome sense of humour.
It does lose its way a little near the end, when things get all super-serious and Zidane goes through his obligatory existential crisis, but otherwise it's a blast to play.

Plus it's really pretty.

Annnnyyyyyway, if you're tuning into one of my vids for the first time, note that I use cheats in all my recordings, because I'm trying to capture the story and not trying to do a walkthrough, blah blah blah, etc., etc.

The editing in these videos gets gradually better as I move along. Eventually I even started using TWO programs to do my editing! I'm like some kind of professionamal, now.

I'm still recording as we speak (up to disc 3, now), but so far there haven't been any major problems. Occasionally there are some brief but annoying audio hiccups, but that's about it. I WAS having issues with slowdown in battles, but eventually figured out what the problem was and resolved it... then went back and re-recorded all the fights. So that shouldn't be noticeable anymore.

And... yeah. I think that's all I had to say about that. Had to cut this first video a little short, because the next scene was too long. Not a great way to get started, but OH WELL.
