I went through the gate and knocked on the front door.
"Ariena!" Denise hugged me, "How are you?" I smiled, "I'm okay. And you?" She took my jacket and hung it up, "Good, good." I slipped off my shoes and walked in. Their house was even bigger than I remembered. I sat down at the table with her and we went over my previous experience- she asked me if I was sure about 800 times- and after about half an hour, we were done. "Well, I guess I'm gonna go.." She smiled, "Alright, have a safe drive." I laughed, "Oh, I'm walking. The woods. So much faster." Her eyes widened, "Oh no, you are not walking in the dark!" She really didn't know what happened between me and Nick, I think she just thought we drifted apart. Because if she'd known, she sure as hell would not have done what she did next.

"Nick! Come here!" And just like that, that gorgeous boy appeared at the top of the stairs, "Yeah M-- Arie?" I lo oked down. It still hurt to be around him, to be here. I nodded. Denise looked at her son, "Can you give Arie a ride home?" He nodded and grabbed his keys. "Um, bye Denise." I said as I slipped on my shoes and coat. This was going to be.. awkward.. and painful.
