Я потомственный КАЗАК . Расскажу как это было . Столица России была КИЕВ и крестилась от Киева . Когда совсех сторон пошол враг (турки ,татары,поляки) знать ЗБЕЖАЛА а народ простой остался . Разграблено было все , и начал враг брать РАБОВ . Матерям был дан выбор или дитя заберут в рабство или отправить в казачество , выбирали КАЗАЧЕСТВО !!! Так и родила земля наша отчаяного КАЗАКА !!! Девиз КАЗАКА !!! РАБОВ В РАЙ НЕПУСКАЮТ !!! Украина остров ХОРТИЦА .

@KirkFetkovic Not really have you heard of Ermak ? He was a don cossack and the Zaporozhian Sich was still untouched.Don cossacks apperared in the 14 century and Zaporozhian Sich was destroyed in In May 1775.

@Psyhozard The Don and Kuban hosts sprung up after the czarina destroyed the Zaporozhian Sich and moved them there.

@Czosnozord Cossacks were in Russia too. Don cossacks? Kuban Cossacks? not only in Ukraine.

@Czosnozord cossacks were just agents who worked for the czars and they lived and live in both russia and ukraine, since cossacks give their duty over to their following sons and so fort they are considered an ethnic but they arent since you can also get a cossack by joining them if they take you in.

First cossacks were in Ukraine, on Zaporizien islands - plavni - they called "ZAPORIZKA SICH".
They were in war with turkish Osman imperia on territory Ukrainian lands - around Dnepr river region and to down to Black sea and Krimea island. Glory ukrainian cossacks too were war with poljac enemy and russian imperial army. Quin russian imperia Ekaterina II moved more cossacks to Kuban, Russia.
