Essential Maroc was established in 2006 as we wanted to share our love of Morocco with others. Our intention was to bring interesting and attractive Moroccan giftwares into the public eye, whilst ensuring that the many artists Essential Maroc use to create each individual item are treated with the utmost respect and not exploited in any form.




The name Essential Maroc was inspired by the French name for Morocco, Maroc.




The founder, Al Bricha, is of Moroccan nationality and wanted to incorporate his love for his birth country with a business, whilst ensuring that the artists Essential Maroc use in Morocco are well looked after. He therefore set up Essential Maroc with his British wife, Eve Taylor, to specialise in sourcing handcrafted Moroccan products and to share his passion for Moroccan cuisine and culture.

All our products are handcrafted from thuya wood (commonly referred to as red cedar wood) by our own group of artists, consisting of family and friends, in the country of Morocco, located in the North of Africa. All our craftsmen are very proud of the items they create and spend many hours carefully producing each item for sale. The skill in creating such beautiful items is passed down from generation to generation, ensuring that we only use the best of craftsmen.




All our wood is polished to the highest possible standard by us in the United Kingdom. We use many different kinds of polish as well as natural ingredients, including wax, lemon juice and vegetable oil. Our products are decorated using many different materials such as lime wood, ebony wood and mother-of-pearl.
