Professional Drummer Mike Bennett shows you his tips and tricks on how to effectively use the Moeller Method. You can use this method to increase your speed and create some really burning triplets.
Don't let gravity be the cause of the downstroke, because it's not even fast enough. The idea is that you use more muscles than just your wrist. Idk what the other muscles are called, but they are located in your arm. There really is no triple method, the idea is just that you constantly trade the muscles you use, and if you did triple, you would be using your wrist twice in a row. people just do that because it's easy. I personally do it only for accents, because it's not much of a boost.
economy of motion, I absolutely love how intelligently you explain things in terms we beginners can understand, thank you very much - love the basic kit too (less means more, ha ha)
@OddMeeter There IS such thing as a Moeller upstroke. This guy isn't a master of Moeller by any means and didn't explain it very well at the beginning. I prefer the explanation of the stick being a "Whip" instead of what goes up must come down... The REAL master of this technique and really good teachers of the Moeller Method are guys like, Steve Smith, Dave Weckl, Frank Bellucci, Jojo Mayer, Dom Famularo, Jim Chapin and TONS of other guys..
@OddMeeter hey greetings, i saw jim chapins video, it shows there was an upstroke. like the whip, then the tap then the upstroke. so what do you mean there is no upstroke. i am interested to master the moeller technique
i'm sure this drummer is great, but this is an incorrect version of the moeller method. A down stroke is something completely different than what he's showing, and there is no such thing as an up stroke. Unless there is a drum above you that you're hitting.
It's best to get this from someone who has studied with Moeller or one of his students like Dom Famularo or Jim Chapin.
the tap should be a bounce....no wrist or fingers needed, followed by the up stroke...itll be quicker and even easier to play....down bounce up....nice vid tho, thanx!
NO dude ! Elbow is more importaint like wrist !!
