What I like about Brel's music? Each artist who sings his masterpieces, adds their own little touch to it.

@deathnotesuicide .... years on but believe me this song was excellent at the time. Never mind the arrangement, his voice etc. I was at the concert, which is a million times better than anything you could EVER find on youtube. I've seen hime live other times too, but that twelve years of tears concert will take some beating. Especially the piano medley.
This song was performed like this, his voice is excellent and the music was excellent. See him live (not on youtube) and you'll understand.

I disagree completely - Marc Almond has a completely unique style and JACKY suits him to a T. I don't think he ever sang better than at this TWELVE YEARS OF TEARS concert - and remember, this is 1993, YEARS before the dreaded Autotune could make even the Spice Girls sound like they could hold a note!

The sound doesnt justify the lyrics. I just cant see this song being performed like this! His voice isnt bad...the arrangement is.

We'll just have to agree to disagree... I posted it because I think the arrangement is BRILLIANT - esp. as it was done at a time when virtually no other pop or rock act would dare to do anything this 'cabaret' inspired! His TENEMENT SYMPHONY album is a classic.
