  • For other people watching this video, its not necessary to make a "2 point poly chain" to make this effect happen... though it is the "cleanest" way to get it done, which is what I think the tutorial narrator was after. You can also do this with a subdivided/knifed rectangle, and setting the displacement procedural envelope to move upward linearly, this will achieve the effect without the need for a null. You have less control, but most lightning is used for ambiance anyways.

  • @jlpMedia1 For me, the only way it wont display is if you added the displacement from the drop down, if you click on the 'T' as demonstrated in this tutorial it should update. If not, i can only suggest deleting your preferences.

  • really guys?! trying to make lightning and dont know how to make a 2pt poly. Very disappointed... kidding...First of all, alot of the tools in modeler you can use the numeric panel to access features of that tool. so with that being said. use the box tool and draw a 2d plane and hit 'n' for numeric to add segments...or use the arrow keys. select the top row with your point tool and delete. when i make lightning i usually apply a deformation in 2 axis since lightining isnt 2d.

  • Yeah, I feel like I've only watched half the tutorial since I don't know how to make a "2 point poly chain"

  • Oh by the way I had a question for some reason when i attach the null to the 2poly object and move the null the poly does not show direct movement but when i render an image out or create a animation it works. Any input?

  • Great video it would have been cool if you showed how to create the two point poly chain though.

  • Epic!
