Wat Pukaotong in Bangkok, Thailand, literally "the Temple of the Golden Mount" or "Temple Mountain Gold" is a popular down-town temple. This footage was taken during the temple's annual festival.

  • wow, why are those flowers being put in the pots? good video

  • I think the flowers are a completely cultural aspect, being "offered" together with the incense to the Buddha. Supposedly the scent of the incense, and the flowers too I suppose, will rise up to the heavens to whomever they're being offered to. Of course Buddha isn't supposed to be in heaven, so it's done more for the meditative purposes of the devotee than anything else.

  • 3 joss sticks, a pair candles and flowers symbolise the goodness of Lord Buddha; Dhamma or the teachings; Sangha or the community. ^^

  • @steelein Flowers are a reminder of impermanence (an important theme in Buddhism) because flowers will eventually decompose. Incense are a reminder "of the fragrance of virtue" which a buddhist is cultivating.
