The First-Day-of-Issue dedication ceremony of the "Distinguished Sailors" 44-cent Commemorative First-Class-stamps took place Feb. 4, 2010 at the United States Navy Memorial in Washington, DC. The stamps commemorate four Sailors who served with bravery and distinction during the 20th century: Williams S. Sims, Arleigh A. Burke, John McCloy and Doris Miller. Speakers included Assistant Secretary of the Navy Juan M. Garcia III, Rep. Chet Edwards (D-TX 17th District) , Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX 30th District), Director, Navy Staff Vice Admiral Samuel J. Locklear, III, USPS Executive Director Stamp Services David Failor and President and CEO , U.S. Navy Memorial Admiral Edward K. Walker, Jr.
