  • If we say Hororwitz own the Third,

    Richter Swallow the second...

I left with no word after listen to his playing...

  • In the first concerto he did the same. What a pity he didn't play the 3rd in public, would be very interesting to listen his performance.

When an interviewer asked Richter why he didnt' play 3rd one, he said there was no reason to when there were great performances, he probably was refering to Horowitz' one....

Richter and Horowtiz were the greatest from last century and will be for many years to come.

  • RICHTER MUST BE CONSIDERED ONE OF THE BEST FIVE PIANISTS IN

    MUSIC HISTORY FOR SURE!!!!!

  • Гениальную музыку играет гениальный пианист !!!

  • richter is great in rock's second, but arcadi volodos owns it! sorry folks.

  • Wonderful! Which recording is this? Richter did it 3 times, I think.

  • Wondefrul! Which recording is this? Richter did it 3 times, I think.

  • How on earth did he manage to swamp the orchestra with just a piano at the very end?

  • there is no question that this is the definitive performance of this piece, I am 53 years old I have never heard anything close

  • THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!

  • @garnf68 Have you ever heard Richter play the coda of Beethoven's Appasionata Sonata? There isn't another pianist in the world who can play it with the speed and accuracy that he can. Not one! In addition to being musical, Richter was a wonderful technician.

  • Interesting that when I listened to this concerto played and conducted by Rachmaninoff himself, I wasn't quite impressed as by Richter's interpretation. Although Rachmaninoff is sure one of the greatest pianist of all times (maybe even at par with Liszt and Busoni), some of the later pianists like Horowitz and Richter did interpret better than the composer himself.
