@TIMMONS33 Give the Jubes , Gospelaires, and Violinaires theirs. Don't forget the Staples. They were legendary at the Newark Armory Shows promoted by the late Ronnie Williams. He had the whose who in Gospel on one show.(11 major groups on one program) The Hightowers use to open. The most underrated. Spencer and The QC's were also trend setters. It's impossible to give it all to a few. You are correct Timmons.

We had the Florida Robins in Boston in the 60's.They were very popular.Great record. Johnny Peoples and the Brooklyn Skyways use to come with them. I remember when the Skyways went with Peacock Records, a big thing then. They were the Motown Records of Gospel(Birds,Gales,Gospelaires
,Clouds,Hightowers after Nashboro,Loving Sisters,Miss Blind Boys,Q.C's,Jules Cheeks and The Knights ect). However the Robins was one of Dad's favorite. They were good to work with. We played their records a lot on WILD. -
NOW THAT'S HOW YOU CLEAN A HOUSE UP!!
I gave 3 that I thought were the hottest SINCE 1960!The Birds were innovators since the 40's as well as the Swans. The Gales were hot from the 40's and 50's.I was trying to give the most impacting groups starting in 1960.There is not enough room to give all their props. Those you mentioned Timmons were great singers I met them all.I played keyboards for Clarence Fountain at Boston Tech once in 1969.He rehearsed with me in my father's house on Tupelo street in Roxbury. You named some greats!

Three phenoms that impacted Quartet singing since 1960.1. Mighty Clouds of Joy 2. then came Willie and the Keynotes 3. Lee Williams. These 3 changed the popularity of Quartet singing. These 3 captivate even the ones that are partial to choir and contemporary. These guys were influential to the style of so many starting out. Each group had very original lead singers that will never truly be duplicated,Joe Ligon,Willie Neal and Lee Williams.
