Roberta Andalò soprano, Sara Pastine violin, Michele Lanzini cello, Simone Ori harpsichord, performing the madrigal "Re Fa Mi Sol Amor" by "IL LIBRO PRIMO" of Francesco Vignali da Rivarolo, printed in Venice on 1640.
Performance recorded in Rivarolo mantovano (Italy), c/o FONDAZIONE SANGUANINI, on 12th June 2010.

Francesco Vignali (1598 - ?) is an unknown musician of the XVII century, born in Rivarolo Mantovano (northern Italy) on 1598. Around the thirties he was active in Casalmaggiore, a little city near Po river, as "Maestro di Cappella" of the local Dome. In 1640 he published a collection of 23 madrigals, printed in Venice by Alessandro Vincenti, entitled "MADRIGALI, IL LIBRO PRIMO".

Refami sol, Amor, quel che m'hai tolto
ch'io lascerò di seguitar costei.
Refam'il tempo che'n amarla ho speso,
e'l sangue mi sia reso
ch'ho consumato con dir tanti omei.
Ma se poco né molto
ciò far atto non sei,
fa che con ella almen, cessato il lutto,
di tanto longo amore riceva il frutto.
