It's so easy for everybody today to say "oh, it's pot." But it was NOT common back then for people in "polite society" or Hollywood to smoke pot. It was considered a junkie's drug. Pills prescribed from a doctor were okay - no matter how someone abused them - but pot wasn't. This wasn't that much after Reefer Madness was made and pot freaked people out in the '50's.

Why does this not surprise me? The woman died from taking an overdose of barbituates. Of course, she'd be okay with some pot. (If it was her only drug, she'd probably still be alive today.)
