Dr. Eric Verspoor's fantastic talk at the 2009 Wild Trout Trust's annual get together on how managing or restoring Atlantic Salmon populations is impossible without understanding Salmon Genetics and the interaction of genes with the environment. The dangers of catching brood stock and crossing fish from populations that would not breed together in the wild (on top of the more widely accepted dangers from domesticated strains of fish reducing/diluting the natural genetic variation) are illustrated.
