In this video we see Sir George Martin, Giles Martin (his son), and Dhani Harrison listening to the mix of "Here Comes The Sun".

Suddenly Dhani opens the channel with the "lost solo guitar". And now, with the master track in the background, you can hear how it sounds in music.

That was George Harrison. A true genius.

  • Very very lovely when, in the end, George Martin told Dhani "You've got it too, you're like your father!" :) :)

  • Here comes the SON :)

  • here was a reason Martin dropped it from the mix back then. Nothing recorded on tape ever disappears unless erased or recorded over, the engineer can see every channel on the meter bridge. It was not lost, it was just not useable to the final mix!

  • Interesting. But its a good call it got cut out of the final version. Though it sounds cool, it doesnt feel appropriate with regards to the entirety of the song. Some cool songs just doesnt need guitar solos. Period.

  • Dhani Harrison,George your dad gave this solo to you,you can use?

  • FUCKING AMAZING

  • @JamesTKirkCobain I don't understand... if it's completely and utterly out of tune, how on earth did the Beatles and George Martin, and all the engineers present, include it in the final version then? It's not like these people didn't have a good ear for music! I'm not saying you are not right (though I sure never heard it) but I'm genuinely perplexed when these kind of claims are being made about records that were supposedly carefully laboured over by very talented people.

  • That guitar sounds very mystic to me, very spiritual. Much better if it made it to the released track.

  • @JamesTKirkCobain . . . and unfortunately in the new mixes that they created for the most recent remastered release of the album they've brought the Moog tracks up in the mix and pushed down the orchestrations. Although more pristine and clear than the original CD release of Abbey Road, I find the new mixes inferior to the original choices for what to highlight in the mix.

  • @JamesTKirkCobain i notice that too.

  • *learn :)

  • one is never too old to leanrn...discover....and appreciate the 'hidden gems' found in musical scores....this is one of them....thanx for sharing this with us.....george has never really 'been gone'''....this is furthur evidence of that.... kudo's 'lucasbandeira01 for this... :))
