  • Lala Muzza :/

  • FYI - Madame Raqia's style is NOT "Randa-like." Raqia was Randa's teacher.

  • @IshtarBellydancer Yes, for me neither! In my opinion not Raks Sharki - compatible, here where I live I fight a lot about this matter. Where my colleagues are pleased I say "It's not oriental dance, it's ballet! " So thank you for encouraging me :)

And yes to Randa -like positions!

    Kisses,

    S.

  • @SnakeKundalini ah lovely Raqia I met her last year at the Ahlan Festival - she is lovely and a wonderful dancer & teacher. I agree with you that the arabesque is better done loosely or at least the Arabic way - casual like rather than the balletic way, which seems out of palace in raks sharki - at least for me! The high leg lift she did is very Randa style as well as the arms! the dance is still evolving... :D

  • Interesting, I always thought that you should not do arabesques with the knee in front of you and it was o.k. in flamenco but not in the oriental dance, but I have to admit that I like the non-ballet-like way better.
