Elvis and Little Richard were McCartney's teachers, no doubt. Like the diplomatic way Elvis is about the changes, but one can't help but sense a tinge of sorrow in his voice. The Beatles overwhelmed the music world. Later generations will probably say the Beatles were the fount and all that went before were the result. Elvis set the record straight here. Everyone, bar none, owed so much to the American Black Sound.

All togheter Now....The beatles are ugly dumbass!

@Coquinhaification Elvis merged black and white music successfully and opened the doors to rock n' roll. Also Elvis has always said that he didn't invent rock n' roll, he just picked up on it. "Elvis is the greatest that ever was, is, or ever will be"- Chuck Berry

@superman11978 This isn't about "claiming" music, but giving props to the culture who created a specific form of music ...We all know that eating is universal ..but we refer to Mexican food, as Mexican food, because the recipes derive from Mexican culture ...We have no problem saying that Mariachi is Spanish music, but for some reason, there is this issue with just giving blacks their cultural recognition ...WHY?

over rated and over inflated.
Elvis was number one! He was the king, then The Beatles arrived and he was never quite the same. The Beatles were the first thing to come along to truly reach the level of fame he had! Elvis would always be the king though..even to the Beatles themselves. Still, I think The Beatles were a curve ball he did'nt see coming.

No one really has a claim to music, black or white. Every group of humans in every geographic region came up with their own music, their own instruments. Then it all just blended together after that. All innovation stems from copying someone else and making a few changes. If you started with nothing, then you'd still be trying to figure out how to make fire, let alone music.
