How To Edit GoPro Hero HD Video On An iPad 2

Here's how to use an iPad 2 to edit MP4 HD video from a GoPro Hero video camera. To do this, you will need the Apple iPad Camera Connector kit and iMovie. You also need to update your iPad operating system to iOS5. I tried doing this before I updated, and iMovie wouldn't allow me to edit the video. Now it works great. You can add voiceovers, titles and sound effects. It's pretty neat. If I were traveling and making videos, I'd bring the iPad instead of a laptop. You can also upload video directly to YouTube from the iPad.

The Apple Band app is great for making songs. You can choose instruments and record sounds and edit them.

By no means is it as easy as this video. All your files on your SD card must be in a folder called DCIM and each file must be exactly 8 characters in length or it will NOT show. So unless you can set your camera to create files that are all 8 letters and in the DCIM, this is futile and you will still need to attach to your computer to do all this. Easy fix- jailbreak your iPad, download iFile, manually find your file and choose option to import to camera role

Thanks. I only use it with the GoPro, so I didn't know that. With the GoPro you just plug it in and it finds the files. They must be in the right place and have the right name by default.

I also use this for my GoPro and bought the components to give it a try after watching this video and it still does not work as easy as you show it. I have the exact same GoPro with updated iOS an everything. Maybe the most current iOS again does not work. Either way I was glad I at least figured out and could justify the $35 worth of products I bought as a result of your video.
