Strangely Familiar is a video and photo gallery. Parts I and II were projected on one wall, while parts III and IV were projected on a wall on the opposite side of the gallery. Still images were displayed in the middle of the gallery.
Strangely Familiar, while rooted in documentary, is a non-linear, expressive audio/visual experience. Greatly inspired by the work of experimental filmmakers such as Kevin Everson and Guy Maddin, Strangely Familiar is a step inside my mind as a lifelong resident of East Lansing and Lansing. The images are "through my eyes and mind."
While every image in this project is real, that is to say nothing was staged, they have significant meaning to me. These images are offered to each viewer to be personally interpreted. This project is very personal in nature, and I hope that each viewer has his or her own personal experience while viewing it.
