Hey all,
Well...ever since I heard Garabage's Only Happy When It Rains back in '96, I told myself I would have learn it if I ever started playing guitar. It had nothing to do with thinking it was complex or difficult, it was really just the impact of all the melodies going on at once. So considering there are only a handful of guitar covers of this song on youtube, I decided to take my best shot at this one.
Recording for this was very quick and fun. This also marks the first time I've had to program the full drumtrack with EZdrummer, as there weren't any guitarpro drum files out there that were close. The most difficult part was trying to hear exactly what was going on at times in the original, as there are quite a few guitar parts that are really low on volume.
There are several times I deviated from how the original was played, but the few changes I made are minor ones. They include-
-The 3rd verse has two guitars playing the same chords but with wah and individual string strums. In the original studio mix it is very hard to make out if there are any guitars playing at all, so I decided to just add my own style to this part.
-The end of the 3rd verse in the original transitions with a small volume swell in the right channel, so I just decided to volume swell both guitars, and I'm actually really pleased with the result.
-The 2nd Chorus melody with the bends is played slightly different. I gave it a try with playing it as it was tabbed on most sites, and it sounded correct when played with the original, but in my own mix it just didn't feel right, so I changed it a bit.
-For the drums in general, I added a few fills which were different from the original as I didn't want to keep using the same fill.

I used EZdrummer Drumkit from Hell. Takes midi input drums and when run through ezdrummer it uses real drum sample recordings to sound like real drums.

Thanks :) Yea it sounds fairly easy on the bass, in fact the midi file I used was a little incorrect I think, the actual bass seemed just mainly just follow the kick drum if I heard it correctly
