Is LASIK right for me? Informative video of the procedure

Don't be scared of this video. It's a short informative video about the LASIK procedure with lots of info built right in for you. Includes the actual surgery by Dr. Matzkin of Atlanta Eye Care. Great results, btw. 20/15 and no complications.

Update: It's been almost a year with no worries. Even with the occasional rubbing of the eyes after a month or so, the flaps have healed. Will update with my year checkup when I have it in August 2007. (This video is one of the top rated LASIK vids. Rate me!)

One year checkup shows no problems. Better than 20/20. The optometrist said their equipment can't get more detailed than that. Let's just say that I can make out details of people walking at about a mile away... one eye is just a hair more astute than the other.

Some negative comments regarding the procedure in general I will leave posted because I feel that anyone getting this done should do as much research as possible and make up your own mind. Remember, you sign a paper saying you trust the doc to not blind you and won't sue... do don't just sign without research first. Knowledge is power, power is responsibility, and yes, LASIK turns you into Spider-Man.

Contrary to what the video says, laser eye surgeries are now accepted by the U.S. Army.. even for those in flight positions, provided that after the surgery you are able to comply with the standards.

Ladies and Gents, you heard it here. Don't just rely on Google but do your own research from reliable sources. New techniques and technology come out constantly. This surgery happened almost 3 years ago and I'm sure there are many new thingamabobs and whozits to make people happy with their vision.

Thank you for posting this video. It helped me overcome some of my fears of the operation that I was even aware of every step during the surgery, which made me feel comfortable (well, to some extent).

I have a question: do you sometimes when you rub your eyes feel a slight dislocation (like that which happens when u r wearing lenses) which makes the vision hazy for just a second or so and then everything returns to normal?

Hi! I had LASIK about six months ago. My right eye was almost perfect the day after the operation but my left eye remained hazy for at least two weeks. They're both fine now. Don't worry! You need at least a month or so before you judge the results. Just follow up with your doctor.

Hello. I had my surgery made last monday. The sting is gone, and only a small discomfort is on my right eye. I see better with left eye, right still a little hazy (more likely contrast loss) i heard this normal. How long it took you to see things back to perfect? The doctor that did mine is 100% accurate and highly recommended

You think its 25% or it is 25% Maybe you are counting underground basement operations if they do exist. I also noticed your doom and gloom post of how terrible it is. Yes there are instances of complications but there are also successful procedures.

A simple google search is not research. Sit down and read to find the whole picture good and bad from credible sources then make an informed decision.
