  • Could this be a video from the performance Joan mentioned in the interview you posted a few weeks ago CF. The performance where she got "winded" by Pavarotti because he came crashing into her?

  • That was one of the first things I thought when I saw this. Pavarotti does come running at her pretty darn fast. You can tell from this video how active they both were in these early productions.

  • thank you very much for this great video, here sang together the two artists were always friends, and their voices fit together as one, beautiful voice

  • Absolutely! To witness something truly great is so rare and anyone seeing Dame Joan and Pav together was doubly blessed. I never saw them together, but saw them starting in 1969 through their prime years. What a sound they made.

  • buenisimo !!!

  • haha! I bet this was before his knee injury.

  • damn! rare videos!!!!!!!!!! great! wonderful! absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!!!

  • He's like a child, a real happy and joyful child here. God bless this "evergreen child" Pavarotti!

And, of course, Joan Sutherland who was a gift to XX century Opera!

  • It's so beautiful to watch how physical they were in performance. Opera singers so often are thought of as staid and stoic. This video disproves that immediately. Luciano running into Joan head first, and then Joan chasing after the soldier and throwing things at him. Marvelous, especially for those of us that didn't have the good fortune to see anything they did past 86. These are jewels!

  • An absolute treat! How wonderful. Thank you.

  • what a pleasure to see this footage...no wonder she was so loved in this role.

I wish I had seen them together in this, but fortunately I saw the 1976 Puritani at the MET...3 times in one week. My mother had never heard Joan and her jaw was hanging open at the intermission.

  • I am not here fan, but admit her great singing skils. I think her best role was Marie (Fille du regiment), best ever!

  • what is the name of this aria?
