This is a fairly good review. I am happy that someone else my age knows something about audio. I believe you got everything right! Especially about the base. I have the AKG K242 and I prefer them to the K272. Despite having the same drivers, the K242 have a slightly softer base due to the semi-open design but I believe it sounds more natural. I am buying the AKG K601 soon. Do you think they will be much harder to drive? A word of advice, if you use a laptop, use lossless audio formats.

how do you burn them in? like how do you get brown noise and white noise? and what is pink noise? haha

@masterdrummer19 Burning in headphones is just playing a signal thorugh them to help break them in like you would a pair of shoes kind of. As you play a signal, the headphones kind of loosen up a bit. "Noise" just refers to static. White noise refers to specifically created static that has more treble, whereas pink is equally treble and bass, and brown is more bass than treble. I used a software called BurnIn for OSX.

do you use an amp with these? if so what amp do you use?

@porterico999 I got a PreSonus Audiobox USB audio interface, and I've been using that as my amp for the time being. Like I said, these things aren't terribly hard to drive, but they are cleaner when i use the interface just because it's isolated from the background of the computer. Eventually, I'd like to get a legit headphone amp.
