lol they still show this in school ? I renember when they show it .. teacher has to skip the part where Odysseus wife play with Poseidon ;) . That was a long ass time ago...

This looks like crap...holy smokes. "on the far side of the island..." ...in other words: about 50 yards through that door behind me. That island is tiny

@LaMOi1 I think it is because he´s born as a mortal and understands: the fate of mortals is to stay mortal. He has a wife & son whom he had not seen for manay years. His life was exciting: he fought in a big war & won it with his courage & wits. He had survived hardships & outsmarted many foes, e.g. the Cyclops.
He knows that life is only worth if you live it to the fullest. And immortalitiy means: losing this ability.
Better a mortal yet exciting life, than an eternal & boring one.
That´s why.
