@TitanicMatthew The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government
When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is libertyI predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms -T.Jefferson

@NamVetBuck so is voteing yet less then 50% do so, if our government deviates from how our founding fathers had planed which is writen in our constitution, then it is our OBLIGATION, tear down the corrupt gov't and rebuild it w/ a gov't for the people by the people. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants when the government fears the people, there is liberty.-T.Jefferson I respect & thank you for your familys service to our great nation!

OK, then try this : If you want to do something other than serve in the military, then support thoise who do, not with words , but deeds. Visit wounded warriors in VA hospitals, donate to the USO or Navy Relief Fund , send a troop a care package, volunteer to blood, or simply send a Christmas card to a serviceman oversees.
It's the very least you can do.

I'm Sorry To Hear About Your Grandfather And The Trials Your Family Went Through, War Is Never Easy On Anyone Flying Any Flag. I Wanted To Serve As A Cook On A Cargo Ship Like My Grandfather Was A Cook In The Navy. I'm A Bit Squeamish LOL So I Doubt Being A Medic Would Suite Me Because I'd Probably Have To be The One Carried Away On The Stretcher instead Lol
I Hope You Understand And I Am In No Way Making Any Attempt To "Slack Off" My Patriotic Duties. I Just Like The Merchant Fleet.

My granpa , old man, and uncle were prisoners of the Japs in WW2, Dad was bombed and strafed at Cavite Navy Base on same day as Pearl. Granpa didn't survive prison camp. Add 2 cousins on the Wall in D.C. to the list of sacrifices my family made.
You could always join the military as a medic or corpsman. You can serve and not kill, if that is your basis for not volunteering to do your part.

Well I'm Sure Begging Your pardon Sir, its A Choice.
My Grandfather Was In Ww2 In Normandy, My Uncles Father Was A Child In Honolulu On Dec 7 1941, And On The Same Date I Lost A Relative oN the Uss Arizona.
I Know Only too Well Ties To Such Patriotism.
I am Planning On Joining the Merchant Marine as a crew mwmber on a ship. I don't know about the navy, i don't want to end up in a situation were i have to kill someone. isnt my style i hope you understand.

You can respect your grandpa, but his "advice" means you're slacking when it comes to serving your country.
Join the Navy and serve on a swift boat .
We were taught as a family that military service wasn't a choice, but an obligation. For 4 generations, we all served.

Just Because I Don't Want To Be In Service Doesnt Mean I Don't Support Our Guys and Gals In Uniform. I Don't Support Any Of These Political Wars But I Support The Troops Themselves.
I Helped A USO Care Package Drive Once, I'm Currently Broke Otherwise I'd Donate.
But I'll Look Up The Christmas Card Deal.
