Minnesota - It's so cold that...you can squirt a Super Soaker water gun and the water vaporizes.

  • This topic, the idea of hot water cooling faster than cold, sparked a large, heated and amusing debate in the correspondence section of the renowned science journal Nature, after someone claimed putting a hot cup in the freezer would freeze it faster than cool water. Funnily, two of the letters for each side didn't realise they were sat in the same building as each other.

But take care putting scalding water in super soakers, the tank may pop when pressurised.

  • Best part was the boy saying "Cool! look dad, they can draw in the snow" lol

  • ...take some hot ice-cream mix and spray it into a waffle-bowl 15' away... then shoot hot fudge and whipped cream @ it... and top it off w/a cherry made from hot jell-o fired w/a sling-shot... Spakk!

  • IM ALSO FROM MINNESOTA WATCH MY VIDEOS

  • Can anyone imagine a pressure washer at a hot enough temperature for it to vaporize?

It would be like an awesome snow gun (a powerful one).

  • cold water will not work becuase it is not at the boiling vapour state, it is to dense to be able to turn into water vapour but the boiled water will at such a hot temperature that it is already creating steam which is vapour

  • hey, you can try hot coffee instead of hot water. see what happen

  • @Compguy321 I could see that happening. Living in Northern Ontario, with the cold days (-40 C) I could sometimes spit in the air and you could hear it bounce off the road.

  • Hey, why we always need to use hot water instead of just cold?

  • I wonder what happens if you do it with cold water, I wonder if it would freeze in the air :-)
