i think light really loves misa at the end, cause when rem and L dies he can kill misa there was no one to stop him.... L was death so he didnt misa anymore, but he didnt kill her....!
she was not useless when L die, and he didnt kill misa chan!

again, although light never loved misa i do think he had a soft spot for her for keeping her alive for so long even after she lost her memory for the second time. i too, wanted light to love her badly but again that's what made death note so good, there's no blatant fan service which keeps it fresh.

I don't think light truly loved misa. He was corrupted by the death note and probably had no concept of love. If it weren't for rem, he would have killed misa anyways
