For me, I'm a '60s pop rock nut. This sounds like classic '60s pop rock from 1966 or 1967. The melodies that great '60s singles were made of. Sounds like they could have been a band from out of Los Angeles during that period, sharing the bill with a group like The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band or something. Nirvana's cover sounds like a punk band from 1978 covering a obscure '60s single that they loved.
