This is the 8th annual Christmas Train Village in Livingston, TX.

For 2010, we again enlarged and modified the layout. We added a second main line and a new Circus Train. We can now run four (4) trains (2 freight and 2 passenger) on the two main lines, in addition to the Christmas train on the elevated line and the Trolley on the Super-Streets track. We also enlarged the Zoo and moved it to an extended section near the Carnival.

As always, the display was open to the public, free of charge, during weekends in December.. This year we had 2,404 visitors during our 13 days of operation.

  • Thanks for the nice comment - we always appreciate hearing from our viewers. The lake is simply a piece of masonite, spray painted blue. We tried other materials but found this to be the simplest and best looking. I did look at your village - VERY nice!!!

  • can't wait to see your 2011 village... how did you make the mountains? is made from styrofoam or paper mache?

  • @MrLego3693 The mountains are made with Hydrocal - a super hard, fast drying plaster. We construct a form, fill it with crumpled newspaper and drape plaster dipped paper towels over the newspaper. When it dries, we take the newspaper out and the shell is left.

  • Thanks for the nice comments !! The song is called "Christmas Magic". I don't know who the artist is - I found it on one of many free music sites that I looked at. I just thought that it was a great song and one that was not only pretty, but very unusual.

  • The gondola set comes with two houses in kit form, a motorized pulley at the top and a free wheeling pulley at the bottom. It also has six (6) gondolas and one (1) tower, along with a substantial length of heavy thread (but we bought more from Walmart) and assorted screws, etc. The motor runs on D.C. but it does come with a rectfier to convert from A.C. We use a multi-voltage transformer (like the ones used for phones, etc.) so we can choose the speed we want.

  • It is the Brawa gondola. You can use any length thread (some comes with the kit) and you can buy extra towers, but it does have to be one long loop. We use Woodland Scenics turf and snow over painted hardboard.
