You're concerned about the planet and its inhabitants, and you want to help stop global warming. But you know that changing your light bulbs isn't really going to save the planet.

What is the number one cause of global warming? The answer is a four letter word: M-E-A-T.

Why? Carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide emissions are the leading cause of global warming. The reason is simple: Every second, animals raised for food in the U.S. produce 89,000 pounds of waste—that's 130 times more than the country's entire human population.

As if that weren't bad enough, the billions of chickens, turkeys, pigs, and cows who are crammed together and abused on factory farms give off enormous amounts of polluting gases.

Also, producing one calorie of plant foods—like beans, veggies, and grains—uses just 10 percent of the amount of fossil fuels that it takes to produce one calorie of meat! Eating meat is like driving a whole fleet of cars around the block every time that you sit down to eat.

You can help warn consumers about what they're actually buying! Visit www.peta2.com/meatsnotgreen/ and sign our petition to get all meat properly labeled with a warning that clearly states that meat is the number one cause of global warming.

  • I am going to respond, not for you but for others who may be reading these comments.

Veg*nism isn't about depriving yourself of good food - there are veg*n alternatives for everything these days, plus veg*nism is a healthier diet for your body as well as the planet.

  • I'm a vegan I eat ducks that eat corn. Ps I shot those ducks

  • I am a proud vegetarian. I eat no meat, no poultry and no fish. Stop killing to eat.

  • We pointed to the glaring ERRORS in a 2006 United Nations report that claimed 18 percent of global greenhouse gases are related to animal agriculture. In 2008, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency calculated that the entire agriculture sector accounted for only 6 percent of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, while sources directly related to livestock production represented barely 2.5 percent of the total.

  • the horses eat it

  • see that would actually be true if farmers actually let cows eat grass but they don't

  • There was a time article that contradicted this video. That said grass feed cows could reduce global warming. And let me guess what peta's solution would be stop eating meat and the neuter and spay the farm animals.

  • Global warming is almost a religion now, and people turn their heads to anything otherwise. It's really a shame more than anything. But of course, you don't have to hear what you don't want to.

  • so what do we do with hay.
