did kathy marry a woman?
being a halfl-irish catholic girl, she was probablly raised to think that sex before, during and after marriage was PERVERTED!!
this might be why her subconscious mind looked elsewhere for, er, gratification.
WHAT DO OTHERS THINK?

This arrangement is terribly inappropriate for this song.

It is great to see a number of people from the U.S. appreciate the talent that Kathy Kirby had. She had a clarity, quality of diction and tone that transcends nationality. I think she deserves recognition. I do not think she ever really got her true due even in her homeland.

fantastic, as much as i like doris, kathy wins hands up

She never made it here in the US....our loss. BTW, prefer this version of Secret Love over all others. What a voice!

Ah... Suzi Jari... I knew I'd seen her somewhere before...

@mreunome Disagree with that - one of the most brill arrangements of the 60s IMHO

i dont know if anyone feels like i do, but whenever i watch great artists like kathy kirby, elvis presley, jane russell, etc i get a yearning to be in that era, to go back in time.... those days were the best... yes i have great days now but nothing like in the 60's.

Living here in the States, we were deprived unjustly of hearing this beautiful, lovely, majestic voice all those years ago because of the snobbery of American DJ's. So because she never made her mark across the Atlantic, I only heard about her passing for the first time just now. Kathy Kirby would have made a fine contribution to the British Invasion if given the chance. Farewell, dear lady--now you can sing in the highest hills among the golden daffodils.

@gladasya10 Thank you. I believe she did appear on the Ed Sullivan Show once. She was offered work in Hollywood, but her manager would not let her sign, as he would have lost control of her. On facebook she has a page Kathy Kirby, where you can chat to her real friends. I have been a fan since 1963.

The music is terrible for this song. She has a nice voice but Doris' voice has a sexy quiver in it when she sings, and it makes it really heartbreakingly romantic.

@mreunome But like I have said before I love them both.
