  • @TheMatt875 That's a good explanation but what I meant was: If Mother hated Humans and thought they were bad (she didn't want anything to do with them) then why did she allow a boat load of them to the Island?

  • @M4ttM3224 And then "the Others" begin to gather and form a community. For over a hundred years these lost souls worshiped the powers of the island and protected the Light. Richard worked with Jacob and people were..getting along and not killing each other! Jacob was right! But then Ben took "the Others" off road..and because Jacob doesn't interfere & Richard follows the chain of command years went by with tasks that would only bring Ben more power. Prego test and such. But that's another story.

  • @M4ttM3224 Also, Jacob was different from his "mother." She had no faith in Man..just like Smoke. Jacob was the better of the two, believing there was something special about humanity. Jacob was what the island needed. Then it was done with him. And Jack served his purpose to the island, but more so to himself. The love story with Kate..ending with the kill of Smoke. And she did it. Out of the blue she saved him a bullet.

  • @M4ttM3224 Jacob, unlike Smoke, believed Man could overcome temptation, greed, ambition, the light, etc...that humanity wasn't defined by their nature to sin..for years he brought people to the island to test the theory & prove Smoke wrong. Some of those people were candidates. Some Smoke could kill, some he couldn't. The purpose of the island was what Jacob sought..to find the best in Man and contain a twisted evil wrapped in Smoke. If Smoke leaves..he'll destroy life on Earth. Light must b on.

  • @TheMatt875 Your theory sounds plausible but if they tried to protect the Island by keeping people away then why/how did people still get there? Why not just stop everyone getting there?

  • @M4ttM3224 well, the Island Protector before Jacob (Mother) had the same rule. That was their way of protecting the island/the Light...keeping the fighting human race from not finding the island and if they did keep them on it. Jacob only knew what Mother knew and he took the job under much emotional distress. Hurley will have different rules to protect to the island/the Light...as Ben suggested.

  • @TheMatt875 If the trouble with getting to and from the Island was because of Jacob then why were there still problems regarding that before he was born?

  • @AmalineSoftgunning They were in a rush because the island was breaking apart and about to go into the ocean. They weren't aware that Jack had fixed the problem by plugging up the hole. Jack plugged a hole. Ha.

  • @M4ttM3224 Because Jacob is dead..the rules (his rules) don't apply anymore. Hurley is in charge now. Real Lost fans should knew this. Word.

  • @TheDoomArt ??? of course, because it's a show so they can do whatever they want even if it makes no sense.
