Through the use of special effects we retrace the 15-billion-year journey from the big bang to the present. We also hear the tragic story of the martyrdom of Hypatia, the woman scientist of ancient Alexandria. This is the famous episode on nuclear war in which Dr. Sagan argues that our responsibility for survival is owed not just to ourselves, but also to the cosmos, ancient and vast, from which we spring.

  • Very true,Jcorp! When one looks at the pictures of the billions of stars in the sky and thinks of the billions of galaxies each with their star systems one realizes that the idea of a God who would speak through the mouth of a peasant in the middle east like Jesus or Mohammed, is an absurdity! Religious believers suffer from a parochial mindset and a pitiful lack of knowledge of the vastness of the universe. I hope religion and the intolerance it preaches, disappears during the 21st century.

  • @RJL738 Learning is not a Pagan concept. Learning is not a Christian concept. Learning is a human concept.

  • @mecher3k You are dumb ass becouse that is exactly my point! You may have capability to read but it seems you cant understand what you read.

They are humans and they have concept of learning. So that means learning is concept of christians & pagans as well as it is concept of other people. It is simple as that.

You guys are making problems were there are non at all. Only totaly bored people can make problems out of such things.

  • @Voodoozeko

You're a dumb ass because it doesn't matter their religion, they are humans.

    As the poster originally said.

  • @mecher3k If you dont have any arguments then please shut up. Every dumb ass can say an offensive word but few people can come up with arguments. I guess you belong to dumb ass category

  • @Voodoozeko

  • A painting of the Flying Spaghetti Monster @ 7:30

His noodly appendage must of reached out to Sagan.

How else is Sagan so wise?

  • @NotHomelessAnymore This maybe a little late but it's called Albinoni Adagio. You can find it on youtube ;)

  • If we can leave the goat herder religions behind i think we have a fair chance.

  • Can somebody tell me what music is playing at 7:00-8:05? I've searched the entire tracklist for this show's soundtrack CD and can't seem to find it. I'm pretty certain it's not Hovhaness' 'Prayer of St. Gregory'.

  • @methodof3 He inspired me and many, many others to follow in his footsteps. To improve on the works and ideas of others for the good of all humanity. He left a legacy of knowledge, reason and a warning. A warning to not let superstition and ignorance rule our lives, because this time it would be the end of us all.

science is no good when your dead, but its the good that you leave behind.
