  • Couldn't you put in a masonry stove, which burns at higher, more efficient temperatures and holds the heat much better than a wood burning stove? Also, could the floors be sealed with a mud plaster and linseed oil (see Charlie Carruthers for his methods on plastering) so the grounds isn't loose? These kind of floors are so warm and soft to walk on and since the sealant isn't permanent, the floor can be reworked if there's any damage.
