Michael did not do the choreography. He mentioned that he wanted to do a military type album after he did captain EO but Janet wanted to do the military style so he let her do it. Lavell Smith and Tina Landon made this dance up 4 her.

I agree Janet also sings to a backing track when doin this song'. I've heard her sing sing every other song live but she also use a backer for this one for some reason!! She always kills the performance tho! I love that opening part. Y doesn'r she do Miss U Much sometimes?
