The Marines of the 19th century lived for 90yrs in the shadow of us army defeats. 120 Marines was all that stood between the burning of Washington in 1812. They repelled 3 british attacks and finally the brits just went around them and at that time the us army simply left the Marines' flanks...that and the battle of 1st bull run was the first time the USMC felt a defeat that was out of their control and the us army could be rightfully blaimed....this is older than our century.

on the contrary,a Marine will never let himself be passed off a soldier.This started in 1918 because of Pershing's mistake to lump together soldiers and Marines within the AEF into one force with one uniform. This also included taking away the Marine's EGA's. What followed was almost a century of a fight for a seperate Marine identity, and that once action is the reason every Marine thinks he is superior. Regardless of generation, calling a Marine a soldier is always a deep insult

@Sturmmann marines don't take prisoners

@XxTuGgErNuTxX Murders and thinking your hot shit is completely uncalled for, they have no right to such things, there is no difference between them and the Army, but they believe there is, and thats what pisses me off

@717KEv Hey whats a war without civilian deaths, no matter how you look at it there will always be civilian causalities in war. And with this technology and ever expanding world, you will start to notice how many civilians die every day in war. I'm a Airforce Brat, but god bless Marines cause they do the dirty work.

@coffeeandsoup "War doesn't determine who is right, only who is left,"

After reading "With The Old Breed", though the various branches did squabble with each other, they all had a profound respect for each other that seems to have been lost on this selfish generation.
Fighting about which branch is better and especially rubbing your fucking Iraq/Afghanistan tours of duty in others faces goes against everything these brave men fought for.
I doubt any of them today would gloat about their actions to others, they did what they had to, not to impress you fucks.
Its an American show for an American audience. Its deals with the American Island hoping campaign, theres no reason other nations contribution needs to be shown. The British and australians dont make shows about the American WW2 experience. Personally, I'd like the BBC to do something with my money other than produce another costume soap for old ladies...

For all military-oriented people: the civilian form of "repetative" is "repetitive". ;-)
