**SPOILERS**
Both the video itself and the comments below may act as spoilers if you haven't read or haven't finished reading Trigun Maximum manga.

Disclaimers: I do not own Trigun nor any of the songs used.

-----------------------------

This is a tribute to Legato Bluesummers and Elendria The Crimson Nail, two great characters of the Trigun Maximum manga. First it was going to be just a Legato video, but the I couldn't help but including Elendria and a little bit of Knives, Vash, and even Livio, too.
Those who have just watched the anime should really read the manga. The anime ruined to no end almost every possible character in Trigun. Well.. it changed the story, too, so I guess you can't really expect much of it. Besides, you surely don't know who Elendria or Livio are. Really, you MUST read the manga.

Anyway, back to the video... I think Legato and Elendria are both great characters, not only because of the big role they play in the manga, but because of the fact that, despite not liking each other, they both have a big thing in common: their endless loyalty to Knives. It doesn't matter what happens, all they ever do is destined to Knives.
I just felt it was really interesting how they can kill millions in the blink of an eye, yet they have this tremendous loyalty to someone who THEY KNOW is going to kill them as well.
Great characters indeed :)

On the other hand, it's really a pity there's so little about Elendria (who, by the way and for those don't know, is actually a man).

The order of the songs used goes like this:

1st. "Wake up and smell the coffee" by The Cranberries
2nd. "Dead Boy's Poem" by Evanescence
3rd. "Nymphetamine" by Craddle of Fifth.

I used the first song just as a kind of backround to show Legato's past and help to understand why he is the way he is. After all, who could be better than him to answer the "Why do you follow Knives?" question?
The second I put it just because run out of time in the first one and I didn't want the "Wake up and smell the coffee" sonf to appear =P
When it comes to the last song, I didn't chose it for any particular reason. I just liked parts of it, whinch in a certain way made me think of the loyalty both of them have for Knives. Specially this one:

"Sick and weak from my condition
This lust, this vampyric addiction
To Her alone in full submission"

Just imagine a "his" where it says "her" =P
Anyway, just watch and ejoy =)

Craddle of Fifth - "Nymphetamine"
-----------------------------------
Laid to the river
Midsummer, I waved
A "V" of black swans
On with hope to the grave
And though Red September
With skies fire-paved
I begged you appear
Like a thorn for the holy ones

Cold was my soul
Untold was the pain
I faced when you left me
A rose in the rain....
So I swore to the razor
That never, enchained
Would your dark nails of faith
Be pushed through my veins again

Bared on your tomb
I'm a prayer for your loneliness
And would you ever soon
Come above onto me?
For once upon a time
On the binds of your loneliness
I could always find the slot for your sacred key

Six feet deep is the incision
In my heart, that barless prison
Discoulours all with tunnel vision

Sunsetter...
Nymphetamine

Sick and weak from my condition
This lust, this vampyric addiction
To Her alone in full submission

None better...
Nymphetamine

Nymphetamine, Nymphetamine...
Nymphetamine girl.

Nymphetamine, Nymphetamine...
My Nymphetamine girl.

Wicked with your charm
I'm circled like prey
Back in the forest
Were whispers persuade
More sugar trails
More white lady laid
Than pillars of salt...
(keeping Sodom at at bay)

Fold to my arms
Hold their message away
And dance out to the moon
As we did in those golden days

Christening stars
I remember the way
We were needle and spoon
Mislaid in the burning hay

Bared on your tomb
I'm a prayer for your loneliness
And would you ever soon
Come above onto me?
For once upon a time
On the binds of your loneliness
I could always find the right slot for your sacred key

Six feet deep is the incision
In my heart, that barless prison
Discoulours all with tunnel vision

Sunsetter...
Nymphetamine

Sick and weak from my condition
This lust, this vampyric addiction
To Her alone in full submission

None better...
Nymphetamine

Nymphetamine, Nymphetamine...
Nymphetamine girl.

  • Actually, it's the first time I notice I put "Evanescence" instead of "Nightwish". Don't worry, I do know it's Nightwish's song. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • I like the music! ya i read all volumes of trigun (manga) it's alot better than the anime and it actully shows legato's past. You also meet Livio, but the anime is funny!

  • Legato was just downright awesome in Trigun Maximum. As my favorite character it was just epic to see Legato, who for most of Maximum had been incapacitated just stand over Beasts body and then fly down on Vash (With everyone just looking on in shock) to commence the most epic battle in the manga.

  • What chapter was Legato a sex slave? I;m using MangFox to find it but there's ALOT to got through

  • I wonder why no one took your head for such a mistake yet,

Dead Boy's Poem is from Nightwish ofc...

  • @clipsvh Yeah, there's so many different anime series I'd love to see them re-do closer to the manga like they have with FMA. Trinity Blood for example - it's based on novels which are awesome, but they made the anime so-so by rushing the ending and skipping half the good story arcs.

  • I like both the anime (which is how I was introduced to Trigun) and the manga, they are both great. My question is how can an anime ruin a story that wasn't even complete to begin with? However I would like to them make a Trigun Maximum Anime that follows the plot and theme of the manga.. (Like what they did with Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood)

  • This is a cool video. Legato Bluesummers is one of my favorite characters in the whole series. I actually enjoyed reading the manga as I got to know about his past. It all explains his motives and hatred towards humanity, such a sad story. What a beautiful character!

    Greetings.

  • Yep, they are way too different to be compared to each other.

  • You're right, both are good in their own way instead of compare and contrast.

  • Both the anime and manga rock. The anime had a more powerful philosophical story and themes, and the manga had better intense action and more depth to the plot.
