Charter Amendment

Pride Student Union at the University of Florida is encouraging everyone to vote no on amendment 1 in the city of Gainesville. Early voting starts on March 16th through March 23rd and voting day is March 24th. You must be a registered voter in Gainesville to vote.

The proposed charter amendment would revoke the city of Gainesville's autonomy to add protections and preferences under the city's non-discrimination clauses surrounding housing, employment, credit/loans, and public facility access for identities, orientations, or statuses not already protected at the state level. That means sexual orientation and gender identity will be stricken from the city's non-discrimination policy! =(
