I remember seeing videos of the original Resident Evil 4(with ghosts instead of infected people) and even since I have been dying to play that version over the release we got. I don't understand why there isn't more "special editions" or game of the year editions and such, I know Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Gears of War 2(with deleted levels I believe) got GOTY editions. The Force Unleashed also got a ultimate edition. But in the end most of it is new content. I would like more deleted content.
So, yeah, seeing as games are produced on CDs asa standard these days, why can't we have bonus content to compliment the game?
It also is indeed a pity that when games get ported to Today's systems that they don't maximize their content from previous ports. Not quite something I was aware of, but disheartening to hear all the same. I also never thought about playing levels that get cut (like in GOW2?), that'd be pretty cool to see more often.
@BlooditeDrakan Not to mention in it's Crypt, you get all access to all sorts of great content in the form of videos, pictures and artwork. When you play Deadly Alliance so constantly and unlock all those coffins, it does feel very rewarding, like the developers actually care about thier product. Spyro's Dawn of the Dragon game also revealed sketches and artwork if one was willing to unlock them as required. Same with deadly creatures. Gah, word limits, I'll finish it up.
I never thought about that before but you're right; the least gamers should get is at least some bonus footage or other such content for the game.
Hell, the best example I can think of is MK's Deadly Alliance. Even on a standard disc, you get so much more than just the game itself; you get bonus footage in the form of Mortal Kombat's history and a bonus music video too. Man, they were fun to watch too. Next post coming up.
