Program Description
The Grayson County College Vocational Nursing program requires 46 credit hours and can be completed in 12 months. The Vocational Nursing Program meets five days a week and is considered a full time program. Classes
start in August and end the next August. Students prepare for licensure by completing the course requirements as stated below. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are awarded a certificate in vocational nursing . Graduates must subsequently apply to take the NCLEX-PN exam. If successfully completed, the graduate will be issued a license to practice nursing as a licensed vocational nurse (LVN).
Admission Information and Criteria
The application closing date is June 10th. Selection of students will usually be completed by June 30th..
In order to be considered, the following criteria must be in the applicant's file by June 10th:
An application to the VN Program and to Grayson County College
Completion of the Nurse Entrance Test with a minimum composite score of 42 on reading and 42 on math. Official high school/college transcripts (Completion of high school or GED is required)
Completion of BIOL 2404 with a grade of C or better prior to applying is recommended since points will be awarded for completion.
