Mate, just because someone says their communist doesn't mean they are.
Ergo many deaths accredited to 'communism' were not really in the name of communism at all, more in the name of either totalitarian self serving dictators or sociopaths.
If Hitler had done everything the same, yet labelled himself a communist, would we acredit the holocaust to communism? No.
My point is, both Stalin and Mao were barely communist at all. Stalin definitely wasn't.
