"Adagio quasi larghetto in C minor and 4/4 time. A typical example of Vierne's meditative pieces. After two introductory bars the expressive melody, with its characteristic third-motive, is heard above a colorful accompaniment in which Vierne gives free rein to his own very personal - and often complex - harmonic style. After a rhythmically livelier middle section the serene opening theme returns, followd by a final coda." (Ben van Oosten)
