As a former Libertarian Party candidate for President, Paul has been a proponent of ballot access law reform, and has spoken out on numerous election law reform issues.

In 2003, he introduced H. R. 1941, the Voter Freedom Act of 2003, that would have created uniform ballot access laws for independent and third political party candidates in Congressional elections. He supported this bill in a speech before Congress in 2004. In 2007 he reintroduced a similar version of the bill.

  • Ok, I no longer want to compromise my beliefs every damn time I vote. This 2 party system is bullshit and needs to go away.

  • @blue11510 Ron Paul did not run as an independent in 2008.

  • @samtotheg Look up Duverger's Law and Score Voting.

Third-parties and independents cannot have success in fully contested elections under the current state systems of plurality, first-past-the-post voting.

  • @jgtguevara Good please leave if you aren't going to vote Ron Paul, this country has been punished enough the last 11 years.

  • @spktruthinlove he can run as an independant

  • @samtotheg - so what would you suggest he do?

  • He had to join a party and with a more libertarian view of the tea party group, he chose republican. In 2008 he ran as an Independent and he lost half his money supporting his views while the two major parties had special interest and lobbyist paying their way. Also in spite of having a major following he was not permitted to be apart of the presidential debate as an Independent ( nice democracy we have..) not a hypocrate.. his views remain the same, unlike everyone and i mean everyone else!

  • And yet he had no problem joing the two party system what a hypocrate.

  • holy shit, he looks like rand paul

  • 1988 and he is talking about the "control of funding" for wars....fucking sad that this man is being systematically destroyed by the two big bullies..
