The Tar Babies (original line-up) perform "Virgin Sound" at their own post-Carolina Crash Benefit, at Club de Wash in Madison, WI. Video shot by Yeller Skeltin.
The van accident the singer talks about at the beginning is the same one Ian Mackaye talks about in the Minor Threat video when he explains why the Tar Babies, who were scheduled to support Minor Threat that night, didn't show. Cool Band.
That's cool - I remember there were not many people there but it was damm funky. I was well in to HC and had just discovered Parliament and Funkadelic. The Tar Babies were right in the middle! Hope your frined has recovered.
My brother was at that gig too, said it was one of the best he'd ever been to. I... missed it, fuck knows why, can't remember. But it's high on my list of gigs I'd go back in time to see, along with Flipper, Black Flag, The Lyres, DMZ, Elvis in the 50's, etc.... It's a long list.
you the man Johnarthurknight. I can honsetly say I have never read such a pathetic comment on youtube in my life. Like we really care at all, period. It's old Tar babies. We looked it up for that reason. No one gives a shit about who you played with, etc. Get a life.
I played with Dan Bitney in the band post Rock Around the Clock in Chicago on June 15, 1999. The other members were Steve Gassen and Paul Paredes and a couple poets. Dan played bass and drum pads. I played with Bucky in Steltch on July 17,1999. The other members were Steve Gassen, Ed Reardon,Kurt Forney,Miles Roberts, Rick Jamarin, Dave Burton, Anthony Ferris, Ryan Howard, and Ivan Klipstein. it was the loudest concert I ever played in my life.

He married an American lady, moved to Chicago and had twins. Haven't spoken to him for years.
Thx.

I was at that gig: I collected the booking fee for my mate Russell from Tina, their tour manager.
It was an excellent night apart from when my friend patrick got a bad case of the squits on the bus home and had to dive behind a hedge.
TMI.

Is that you John, from the Cold Cock Trio? I played a few shows on bass with the CCT in '95.
The Tar Babies were one of my faves. Getting to meet Bucky and play with him for a bit was a blast.
I saw that the Bar Tabies, (Madison area ex-Tar Babies,) still have a web site. Does anyone know if they are still playing?
