6233 - The Royal Scot - 10/10/09

'Duchess of Sutherland' is seen at Shap Wells on the outward journey and just past Shap summit on the return. The train was the heaviest she has hauled over Shap in preservation. Many thanks to Ralph(ralph5407) for his updates throughout the day. Thanks are also due to the Princess Royal Class Preservation Trust whose expertise allows us all to enjoy this magnifient loco.

I really love both Shots. I hope though that the some more shots of the steam locomotives going down hill at the summit occur. I love Up just as much as going down at the same location.

Thanks, I think people largely ignore the downhill shots as if you only have the one chance you will always go to capture the loco working hard ( well I would anyway!) but in some ways it's a shame as a train at speed makes a fine sight.

Climbing Shap Fell is steam travel at its most classic. A splendid recording making it all possible in the comfort of one's home!

Livery is fine - hiding it all in a steel casing is not so good, for me!

Thanks Alan, good that we now have the 'Duchess' for another 8 months, but in LMS black livery.
