Why are so many students (and adults) with speech impairments being denied a voice and excluded from language and literacy? Why don't all teachers and speech therapists print out a natural language board of high frequency words for these students to point at? And make a computer version of the same board with speech output? There are computers and printers in every classroom. Does no-one know what to do? Why do speech therapy standardised tests consist mostly of noun labelling and omit almost every core word? Why is teaching driven to the collection of subject specific words, which are mostly nouns? Shouldnt everyone have the right to learn and use the 400 words that make up 80% of everyones daily communication?

  • Hi Michael. My son is disabled and has a hard time communicating. He loves to watch your video of running up and down the vacuum isle. He watches it several times a day. He acts it out every time we go to a store. We enjoy watching your videos. Keep them coming.
