@edsmith20 all great ball strikers compress their body during the backswing, then again in the downswing, to varying degrees (eg, hogan, tiger, nickluas, snead, watson etc.) and while you certainly don't want it to be to prominent, contrary to popular belief it's actually a good thing. amateurs normally stay at the same height or rise slightly in the backswing. ever heard of the snead squat? it's this compression on the downswing that it refers to. trust me, it's a good thing
