3hp Briggs Project: START-UP Attempt (for mini dirt bike)

LET'S START THIS PUPPY UP!

We've had it it running for about 60 seconds before, but that was many months ago so today we see whether it will start and, supposing that it does, if the new stand has improved it's running.

I've had a few people say that they think it should have pull start but trust me I'm glad it was drill start for this video ;)

you need to piss that aluminium flywheel off and put a cast iron one back on, the old one should still work with the new magneto coil. Flywheel isn't heavy enough to keep the momentum of the engine running smooth. That's one reason why its bouncing around like that and also the reason its very hard to get it going (plus your fuel leak of course)

@TheAstro30 Fair point, I may need to put the other one back on, somebody else took the iron one off the engine earlier.

I had a engine just like that I let my neighbor barrow it for his go kart and a month later I get it back it's all scored up and there was barely any oil in it

I had that problem carb float had got stuck and with a pitbike it would run rich then shut off sometimes u just give it a good old rev and that pop back into good health or u have to strip carb a tweak the air mixture or idle hope u get it running good

@motorbikesrule125 Hey dude yeah one day I'll have a look in the carb and see what the story is in there, maybe the float is sitting a bit wrong or something...

Hey Dave how about turning the needle valve in a bit to lean it out, the black smoke could mean just running to rich ........

@shinyfuzzy Yeah it's that aluminium one, but it seems to be going OK so far, but I haven't got the engine to fuel correctly yet so I can't test if it idles or not...
