It's about the feel and syncopation that differentiates it from son along with the rest of the rythm section.

PENSE QUE LA TIMBA ERA CUBANA

Like a classic salsa pattern! Easy

Ademas de ritmo tiene sentimiento eso provoca que sea un buen musico. dentro de ese ritmo hay mucha experiencia mas alla de ser virtuoso.

This clip isn't from the DVD's that come with the Mel Bay instructional books called the Tomas Cruz Conga Method. There are three books that each come with the dvd. The book has written notations showing how to play each beat, but the book says that watching the dvds and getting a feel for the beats and their sounds is much more important that learning the beats based on the notations in the book. So, they basically say to watch the dvds that come with the books.

To me it sounds like a variation of regular tumbao. Whats the difference?

Realy wonderful. :-) thanks for sharing.
Is this a section of his dvd. Anyone no what his 'method' of instruction is? Some teachers use written notation-does he? Been thinking re buying his dvds but concerned about the demonstration being too fast and no notation offered. ie symbols not notes. Thanks

This is not from the Books and DVD. In the book he uses musical notation and on the DVD he builds up the exercises and rhythms slowly stroke by stroke. Just get it with no hesitation, you will not be disappointed
