my principle is: instead of buying a lot of cheap stuff, i'd rather buy one or two items but of very high quality!

i agree with princessnoel. we got duped by a "profesional photographer" just to find out that there pictures were egsactly as the same as the superstore for 10 times as much.

We splurged on making sure that both Mom and Dad's vehicles were identically equipped with the exact same car seats, mirrors, sunshads, etc.. Made it SO much easier to swap cars without worrying about moving seats around or learning a new buckle system, etc...

Oh, we also splurge on the carseats... definitely worth it!

we splurged on good strollers and I'm so glad we did... the cheap ones we had with our boys just ended up costing us the same as we killed so many.
We saved by buying clothes that were previously owned (some hadn't been worn yet), which is also good for the environment.... reusing!

Mine would be getting my daughter a tv/dvd/vhs for her room...

I spent over a hundred dollars on professional pictures and most of the poes were the same.

we got our daughter so many clothes. it was sort of pointless since she was growing too fast and outgrew them fairly quick.
a ps3 tho would be a nice splurge...the controller would become a drool toy.
Splurge on a HD (high-definition) video camera. Why? Because these devices pick up the finest detail or skin, texture, color... and that's what you're gonna wanna see again when junior is all grown up -- Like that "new car smell" you're gonna miss that "new baby smell, feel, look...". Maybe someday cameras will be able to store olfactory data, who knows.

Good point. Still trying to swing that camera, though...
